I am a Software Engineer at Google. I started this position in June 2020, and I am currently a Noogler :)

Previously

I obtained my Ph.D. degree in Applied Mathematics at University of Delaware in May 2020. Up until April 2019, I was a proud member of Team Pancho supervised by Dr. Francisco Sayas. Unfortunately Dr. Sayas (aka Pancho) lost his battle with cancer. I completed my dissertation under the advisement of Dr. Peter Monk. My dissertation is about the deformation of viscoelastic materials and during my Ph.D. I worked in the following areas:

  • Scientific computation. High order numerical approximations of solutions of partial differential equations. This includes elastic and viscoelastic wave propagation problems.
  • Computer vision and object segmentation. This has two sides. Usage of classical tools, more specifically, implementing active contour models and solving energy minimization problems. Secondly, making use of modern visual recognition systems based on deep learning.
  • Software and algorithm design. Implementing fast, vectorized, parallelized, object-oriented, and well-documented software. I have been contributing to a couple of team-projects, and the products will be publicized soon.

Tools

Here is a list of tools that I like using

  • C++, Python, MATLAB, NumPy/SciPy, Object Oriented Programming, Git
  • Software Development, Algorithm Design, Machine Learning
  • Numerical Analysis, Finite Element Methods, High Performance Computing
